The Cherry Creek Fire Department recently welcomed members of the LF Bioenergy Team, underscoring their shared commitment to community safety. With support from LF Bioenergy, the department acquired two MSA 4 gas meters and two FLIR thermal imaging cameras, enhancing firefighter safety and operational effectiveness.
According to Fire Chief Chris Blair, these upgrades enable volunteer firefighters to collaborate more effectively with neighboring departments through mutual aid in rural areas such as Cherry Creek. Volunteer firemen John Johnston (1st Assistant Chief) and Jim Steward (Secretary) encouraged community involvement, either by joining the volunteer firefighting team or contributing through local donations. They also highlighted the department’s longstanding service since its founding on March 23, 1942.
Dustin Long, Lead Plant Operator at LF Bioenergy, emphasized the company’s dedication to the safety of Cherry Creek residents, noting the privilege of working for a company that prioritizes community well-being. Brandon Barber, also an LF Plant Operator and former firefighter, expressed pride in being part of LF Bioenergy, focused on supporting local communities.
Jim Merrill, Senior Regional Manager of Operations at LF Bioenergy, reiterated that safety is central to LF’s operations, with daily practices reflecting a strong commitment to protecting employees, contractors, partners, and the broader community.
Fire Chief Chris Blair concluded by announcing significant upgrades to the department’s equipment and facilities, including state-of-the-art firefighting gear, advanced communication systems, and improved emergency response vehicles. These enhancements are designed to boost operational efficiency and ensure firefighters have the best tools available to protect lives and property.
