“Meet the People Behind the Work”
From Beneath the Ocean to Renewable Energy: Hanna’s Purpose-Driven Journey
“All is not lost. Solutions do exist, and we still have time to implement them.” — Hanna, Environmental Revenue Coordinator, LF Bioenergy
For nine years, Hanna spent her days beneath the ocean’s surface as a scuba instructor, four years in Honduras and five in San Diego, California. What began as a love for the ocean became something much deeper: a calling to protect the environment and help create a more sustainable future.
Year after year, she witnessed the effects of rising ocean temperatures, coral bleaching, declining kelp forests and increasingly severe environmental conditions.
“When you see it with your own two eyes every day, there’s no way for it not to affect you,” Hanna recalls. “We have to find better ways to meet people’s needs without sacrificing the environment in the process.”
That realization changed the direction of her life.
Determined to become part of the solution, Hanna returned to college, pursuing a degree in Sustainable Built Environments at the University of Arizona. There, she discovered anaerobic digestion, the process of transforming organic waste into usable energy.
The concept fascinated her. Could something traditionally considered waste become a valuable energy resource?
When an internship opportunity arose, Hanna reached out to LF Bioenergy. She wanted to experience firsthand how renewable natural gas (RNG) could turn agricultural waste into energy while creating environmental and economic value.
That internship became the beginning of her career with LF Bioenergy.
Today, as an Environmental Revenue Coordinator, Hanna helps coordinate environmental credit generation and regulatory compliance across federal and state programs. Her work connects environmental progress with the financial mechanisms that help make renewable energy projects economically viable.
For Hanna, that connection is key to putting solutions into practice.
“You can build a successful, profitable business while doing work that benefits people and the environment. Those goals can go hand in hand,” she explains.
Her journey has taught her that meaningful environmental progress does not require waiting for a perfect solution. It requires investing in the solutions available today, improving them and continuing to move forward.
Hanna joined LF Bioenergy because she wanted her career to reflect her purpose: advancing environmental stewardship through practical, solution-driven work.
From protecting marine ecosystems to supporting renewable energy development, her commitment remains the same: turning environmental concern into practical action.
At LF Bioenergy, we believe our people are just as important as the innovative solutions we develop. Hanna’s story shows what can happen when personal passion becomes meaningful work, and how each of us can make a difference in building a better future.
This is Hanna’s story. This is I Am LF Bioenergy.
